This is my husband, Charlie. We've been married for 34 years. He's always been a team player, and I'm so grateful he's on my team. For most of our marriage, we've had very defined roles as far as household duties are concerned. I did the cooking, dishes, and laundry, and he took the trash out, cut the grass, and dealt with fixing things. A few years back, our lives changed as I started working more. Much to my surprise, Charlie stepped up to the stove, washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher. Along with his many other responsibilities, he continues to "step up" and take care of what needs to be taken care of.
The best part for me is that he's being a wonderful example to our youngest son, Ben, who is still in the nest. Ben will hopefully one day be someone's husband. He will recall his dad doing things around the house that many years ago, only women did. Times have changed. That's why Ben will be learning how to cook this school year. Together, Charlie and I are teaching Ben how to "step up" to the plate.
